Our Vision

The Scottish Arts Trust was established in 2014. Our aim is to support and promote innovation and creativity in the arts in Scotland through voluntary action. We provide new platforms for showcasing and promoting the work of Scotland’s artists, writers, musicians and other practitioners, while also mobilising and drawing on the skills, energy and vision of volunteers committed to the creative arts.

Our initiatives include awards, exhibitions, performances and publications in the visual and literary arts as well as new music. Our work has enabled established artists to reach new audiences, while creating opportunities for new artists to exhibit, be published, and be heard on a national platform for the first time. We aim to expand these opportunities by building on the experience of volunteers who seek a closer involvement with the arts. Currently, around fifty volunteers are involved in the operation of our projects. Join our mail-list to learn more about how you can volunteer to support the arts in Scotland.

Donors

We are grateful for the support of several donors who have been with us for many years, and share our vision of creating new platforms to celebrate and promote Scottish talent through voluntary action. Our special thanks to the William Grant Foundation who have provided such generous support that has enabled the Scottish Arts Trust to grow, and fulfill many of our goals. Our thanks also to long term supporters of the Trust, including Siobhán Coward, the Robert Haldane Smith Foundation, Irene Adams OBE, Sheila Colvin, Bill and Mary Scott, Richard and Avril Jacques, Golden Hare Books and the Isobel Lodge Memorial Fund.

We are grateful to the prestigious financial services firm, Sutherland Independent, for their three-year commitment to support the Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art., and to MPB the largest global platform for buying, selling and trading used photo and video kit for funding the new MPB Scottish Portrait Award in Photography.

In 2023, our thanks to the many new donors for the Scottish Landscape Awards including Lapeca, the Museums and Galleries of Edinburgh and Edinburgh City Council, the Cruden Foundation, and Friends of the City Art Centre and Edinburgh Museums.
